The Olfactory signals the hypothalamus- part of the
emotional limbic system of the body.
Then the hypothalamus sends out a signal to the rest of the body.
Depending on the aroma, the hypothalamus sends a signal to
the pituitary gland to release hormones that stimulate hunger
or hormones that suppress hunger and appetite.
